About Us
Our Mission
TidewaterUndertow Field Hockey Club exists to grow the game of field hockey in the Richmond region by providing inclusive, developmentally appropriate opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities. We are committed to skill development, teamwork, athleticism, and healthy competition—grounded in sportsmanship and fair play—creating a welcoming environment where players, families, coaches, and volunteers feel connected and supported.
Our Vision
Rooted in Richmond’s rich field hockey legacy, we envision a thriving, multi-generational community club where athletes begin with curiosity, grow with confidence, and carry the stick forward for years to come. Through accessible programming, strong relationships, and a culture that values both competition and connection, Tidewater/Undertow aims to strengthen the sport locally while building lifelong players, leaders, and community members.

About the Richmond Hockey Club Legacy Run
Bringing together field hockey players of all ages and programs
The Richmond Hockey Club Legacy Run unites past and present players, families, and supporters from across the region to celebrate more than a century of field hockey in Richmond. Open to all programs and generations, the event honors Richmond’s field hockey history—originating with the founding of the club in 1922 as the region’s first field hockey organization (now Tidewater/Undertow)—while inspiring a shared commitment to carrying the sport forward together.
